PUNXSUTAWNEY - The Punxsutawney Rotary Club volunteered to plant more than 2,000 trees at the Punxsutawney Reservoir Friday. The tree-planting event was held by the Jefferson County Conservation District and Pennsylvania American Water. Watershed specialist Grace Presselato said the trees were planted near the stream to help stabilize eroded banks and improve water quality. "We have a stream that has no trees around it and what happens is it will erode the stream banks and create sediment in the water, which is bad for aquatic life,"
TAMPA, Fla. (WPEC) — A woman was arrested after a two-year-old in her care died from severe neglect, according to the medical examiner's office. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) said deputies responded to an emergency call in Tampa after dispatch told deputies there was a child in distress. When deputies arrived at the scene, the toddler was located but later pronounced dead. When conducting the initial investigation, it was discovered that the child had sustained injuries to several parts of its body.

Altoona, PA (WJAC) — Authorities with the Altoona Police Department say a report of a burglary led to the discovery of a three-day old corpse inside a Blair County apartment on Wednesday and the arrest of an Altoona man. According to the affidavit, police say officers were called to an apartment building along 8th Ave. after a resident accused her neighbor, 51-year-old Raymond Oechsle Jr., of repeatedly breaking into her apartment and stealing multiple items.
In honor of Veteran’s Day, Bishop Carroll High School organized a Veterans Day Ceremony. The ceremony took place for the first time in conjunction with an Alumni Basketball Game. Organizers explain that the game included both a men’s and women’s division and really offered an opportunity for the public to see the school’s new gym. The event also featured a basket raffle from which a portion of the proceeds will go to the It’s All About The Warrior Foundation.

Quinn Komar, a fourth-grader at the Greater Johnstown Elementary School, and her classmates are celebrating by reading Dr. Seuss’ books and dressing up according to the themes of his stories. “Dr. Seuss is very fun, he likes to rhyme and he's goofy and other authors are not like him,” Quinn says.
