BUTLER, Pa. (AP) — State police say a Pennsylvania police officer is in critical condition after being stabbed during a struggle with a man he then shot and killed. Police say the officer in Butler responded early Tuesday to a report of a man "acting erratically and jumping in and out of oncoming traffic." State police say the officer struggled with the man, was stabbed and fired his gun. The 27-year-old officer has been reported in critical but stable condition at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
UPDATE | University Park, PA (WJAC) — Officials say a sinkhole at the Eisenhower Parking Deck on Penn State’s University Park campus has left people stranded for hours. Penn State officials say the sinkhole appeared at about noon Wednesday. The parking facility was full of cars from workers to campus visitors. No one was able to get to their cars until about 2:30 p.m. Dozens of people lined up to be let into the garage.

Bedford County, PA (WJAC) — Congratulations to Isabella Hillegass, who is this 2023 recipient of the USSCO Federal Credit Union Scholar Athlete $5,000 scholarship. Hillegass is a senior at Chestnut Ridge high school where she plays basketball and volleyball. She has earned multiple academic awards throughout her high school career. Hillegass also says that she has volunteered to do community service work with her church. "I was not expecting it that's for sure.
CLEARFIELD - Fire officials evacuated the Clearfield County Courthouse Annex after smoke was coming from the roof Tuesday morning. Fire crews were dispatched to the annex around 10:50 a.m. for reports of a structure fire. Officials said an electrical panel of the air conditioning unit on the roof caught fire. Commissioner Tony Scotto said the fire spread into the ceiling of the county's domestic relations office on the third floor.
WASHINGTON (TND) — British fuel cell company Intelligent Energy unveiled a new hydrogen fuel cell system that is smaller and more powerful than anything currently on the market and could help achieve a zero-emission future. Electric vehicles are common, but there is another kind of zero-emission vehicle that exists: a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. These vehicles use the same kind of electric motor to turn the wheels that a regular electric car does, but how they are powered is different.
Somerset Co., PA (WJAC) — Following a long intermission, the Mountain Playhouse is premiering its 2022 season in a new location. After operating at the Somerset County Gristmill, just outside of Jennerstown, for over 80 years, the nonprofit relocated after it was unable to purchase the theater for much needed improvements and repairs. As a result, the 2022 season will be held at the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center at UPJ, while the playhouse looks for a new, permanent home.

In the past, this was only the case for individuals part of educational programs. Now, its also the case for Pennsylvanians apart of therapeutic programs - like a rehab. Senator James Brewster of Allegheny County originally introduced this bill which unanimously passed the house.
Johnstown, PA (WJAC) — The Atrium, a Choice Community, in Johnstown is reportedly closing its doors after 35+ years of service, according to a press release obtained by 6 News. Officials say the financial strain of operating a senior living facility was compounded by the COVID pandemic and high inflation, and ultimately prompted the decision to close the facility. The nonprofit company stated that those issues made it difficult for the facility to meet its operating expenditures.
