DuBois, PA — In an incident dating back to November of last year, authorities said Gong Yang Song, owner of Fusion Buffet in DuBois, tried to rape one of his female employees and tonight he’s facing multiple charges. Albuquerque, NM — It is a sight you would not expect to see inside a school classroom, students fighting each other swords. But that is exactly what happened inside one high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico about two years ago, and it was all caught on camera. One of the students was injured and her family is now suing the school district for allowing it to happen. "Our client says the teacher came in and said I have a surprise for you guys,” the student’s attorney said.
ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — Altoona police have released 20 of what they say are some of the department’s most prominent arrests over the past month. The Altoona Police Department posted a gallery of mugshots to their Facebook page Wednesday. Police said in the post, that the release “does not include all arrests, only some of the more prominent incidents handled by officers.” Some of the names and faces shown below you may recognize from previous 6 News reports.
Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — A former prison guard at SCI Benner was sentenced Tuesday on charges related to smuggling contraband into the facility. Kevin Hoch was sentenced to serve 9-and-a-half to 23-and-a-half months in the county jail. Hoch was arrested last November after he admitted to being paid by an inmate's family to smuggle to contraband into the prison. According to the affidavit, authorities began investigating Hoch after prison staff had reviewed phone conversations, made by the unidentified inmate, and suspected that a package was going to be delivered to Hoch's home.
WASHINGTON (TND) — The House Foreign Affairs Committee on Monday released interview transcriptions showing a major military leader claims he cautioned against the complete U.S. troops withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. The Biden administration oversaw the final withdrawal of troops that August, completing an effort launched by the Trump administration the year prior. Troops were reduced down to 2,500 just days before Biden's inauguration, the lowest amount of U.S. forces in Afghanistan since 2021 at the time.
HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. - The Hollidaysburg Area School District is investigating a video posted to social media that contains racist language that appears to have originated from a student within the district. According to a post from the district, school officials said they have been in contact with local law enforcement about the video an are looking to take swift and appropriate action. "The Hollidaysburg Area School District is deeply disturbed by the offensive actions and related social media posting which appears to have originated from one of our students,"
Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Centre County District Attorney Bernie Cantorna announced Wednesday that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has rejected an appeal filed on behalf of James Cruz, a truck driver who was convicted of killing a teenage girl and dumping her body in Centre County. In March of 1993, the body of 17-year-old Dawn Birnbaum, a teenage runaway, was found in a snowdrift along Interstate 99, near the Bellefonte interchange.
BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Three people are dead after flash flooding in Pennsylvania. The Bucks County Coroner confirmed three adults, two women and one man, were found dead outside of several vehicles in Upper Makefield Township. Four other people are still missing, including a 9-month-old. The eldest of the four is a 62-year-old. Officials said they are actively searching. In my 44 years, I've never seen anything like it,” Fire Chief Tim Brewer told reporters.
