RUSHVILLE, Ill. (WICS) — Five people are dead, including three children, after a school bus and semi-truck collidedin western Illinois. The bus was traveling west on U.S. Route 24 at Parkview Road around 11:30 a.m., and for an unknown reason, crossed the road and hit the commercial vehicle head-on, according to Illinois State Police. Both vehicles became engulfed in flames as a result. The bus driver, truck driver, and all three students on the bus were pronounced dead on the scene, state police confirmed.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — UPDATE: The Lancaster County Coroner's Office has ruled 19-year-old Helen Miller's death a homicide. The coroner says that Miller died from multiple stab wounds to the body. SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — New year, new wages. The Somerset County Commissioners held their annual salary board meeting Tuesday morning to approve the 2023 salaries for county workers. Somerset County Treasurer Tony DeLuca says those financial decisions were made without him. "Everything is behind closed doors. Everything is private. They do not include me," he told 6 News. Deluca says he's entitled to be the secretary of the salary board and be involved in the decision making process.

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — State police and officials with the Clearfield County coroner's office are investigating the death of an inmate at SCI Houtzdale. According to the prison's Acting Superintendent David Close, 33-year-old Matthew Vanzandt was found unresponsive in his cell on Wednesday, May 11. Investigators say first responders attempted to perform life-saving measures but he was pronounced dead around 8 p.m. Officials say Vanzandt was serving a 12-to-24-year sentence for first degree murder out of Lancaster County and had been at SCI Houtzdale since Sept.
