Fire prevention was the main lesson for students at Windber Area Elementary School on Wednesday morning. Hundreds of students took part in their 3rd annual Health and Safety Walk and Fire Prevention Day. Students started by taking a walk outside and getting a healthy snack bag. JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — Following Wednesday night's Johnstown city council meeting, 6 News spoke with mayor Frank Janakovic, who confirmed that city manager Ethan Imhoff gave council a 60-day notice that he'd be stepping down from his position, citing family reasons. Janakovic says the city will be accepting applications for the new city manager through the end of the month and says he is confident they will have the position filled before Imhoff’s departure.
ORBISONIA, Pa. (WJAC) -- Hundreds of people gathered in Orbisonia Friday to show love to the East Broad Top Railroad as it looks to get engines like "Millie" back up and running. The East Broad Top Railroad has been nonoperational since 2011. A new nonprofit, the East Broad Top Foundation has purchased the railroad from second-generation owner Joe Kovalchik and plans to bring it back to life. “I searched for nine years to get the right combination to get this thing to where our family wants it to be and that’s in a state or restoration and operation,” Kovalchik said.
HERSHEY – A Johnstown native is facing charges in Dauphin County that he had unlawful contact with a minor and criminal attempt to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced Saturday. Adam Lichvar, 31, was arrested Thursday in Hershey on suspicion of soliciting sex from an undercover agent posing as a 14-year-old boy on a social networking site. The undercover agent allegedly told Lichvar that he was visiting from out of town and his parents had left him alone at a hotel.

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Organizers have released the schedule of events for the 57th annual Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts in State College. Officials say the festival attracts approximately 125,000 visitors each summer and features various artists and displays, as well as live music and other performances.
