WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal energy regulators on Monday approved a long-awaited rule to make it easier to transmit renewable energy such as wind and solar power to the electric grid — a key part of President Joe Biden's goal to eliminate carbon emissions economy-wide by 2050. The rule, under development for two years, is aimed at boosting the nation's aging power grid to meet surging demand fueled by huge data centers, electrification of vehicles and buildings, artificial intelligence and other uses.

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — The resignations of two police officers and the chief of police were accepted Monday night at Bellefonte Borough's council meeting. Bellefonte Borough police officers Matthew Pollock and Jason Brower resigned earlier this year and police chief Shawn Weaver resigned after being the chief since 2006. Borough officials are still not commenting on the reason for their resignations. The acting police chief of Bellefonte Borough is now William Witmer.
BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — On Tuesday, several clients of Pyramid Healthcare helped Families United for Change clean up the "Circle of Hope" in Tuckahoe Park in Altoona. The crew spent the morning raking leaves and picking up trash around the monument, which is dedicated to those who are affected by addiction. They see the monument as positive affirmation that there are those in the community who value them and support them in their battles.
This week it was learned the Cambria County Area Agency on Aging agreed to pay more than $100,000 following a federal investigation and Representative Frank Burns is calling for greater transparency from the agency. Investigators with the U.S. Attorney's Office said they found the agency falsified volunteer hours that led to them being paid higher stipends. They said it was part of the AmeriCorps Foster Grandparent Program. Cambria County Solicitor Ronald Repak said the issue happened in 2016 and 2017, and that it's been completely resolved and shouldn't negatively impact the agency or county.

In the past five days, he says they've responded to four brush fires.
GETTYSBURG, Pa (CNN) — Looking for a unique vacation spot? Two historic homes on the Gettysburg Battlefield will be available to rent soon. The National Park Service says both the Michael Bushman and John Slyder houses will be available for overnight stays starting on May 24th. The Civil War battle of Gettysburg unfolded around the houses on July 2, 1863. The Bushman home is a two-story stone house built in 1808.
Exeter Township, PA — An alligator named Fluffy is now back with his owner after a Pennsylvania landscaper found him in a creek. "We just caught an alligator. We're famous." When landscaper Shawn Sancinella saw an alligator near his job site in Exeter Township Wednesday morning, he made a snap decision. "I couldn't believe it, it was wild. I'm like, we're in Pennsylvania, no alligators are going to be in here.
COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Police bodycam footage released by a judge Monday shows the crime scene at the Murdaugh's property just as investigators found it upon arrival. Sgt. Daniel Greene with the Colleton County Sheriff's Office was first on the scene after receiving a 911 call from Alex Murdaugh reporting the murders of his wife and son, Maggie and Paul. This was June 7, 2021, in Colleton County, S.C.
